Help at Home

"Good Beginnings" program hosted by VON (Offered to City of Hamilton area only residents.) This program is volunteered based. It is open to families of multiples until the babies reach 6 months of age.  Some circumstances may permit a volunteer for a longer duration.  A member of the VON (Victorian Order of Nurses) will come out to your house and interview you and your needs.  The volunteers are screened and interviewed by a qualified VON coordinator.  All volunteers receive a three hour training on the care of newborns.  The VON coordinator follows up on the match.  The volunteers have also gone though police checks and reference checks.  The Hamilton based program is funded by the United Way and the Public Health department  and the program has been running for 5 years now. They will match you up with a volunteer that will come to your home once a week for 2-3 hours to assist you with your multiples and/or any other siblings. The volunteer is not a babysitter so you may not leave the home, they are there to provide some assistance to you by watching the multiples, while you catch up on the things that you need to do.  For more information and to set up an appointment, please contact Donna Roadhouse at 905-522-0053 ext 229.
